Hello! My name is Andrea, I grew up in California and earned my degrees from CSU Pomona and CSU San Bernardino. I am a triple certified Health & Wellness Peer Supporter and I love what I do!! I have been working with vulnerable individuals in an educational and/or clinical capacity for more than 25 years. I work with children, adults, and families. My lived experience has afforded me a comprehensive understanding of the challenges associated with supporting adolescents, adults and seniors as they work on their wellness and recovery journeys. My recovery includes overcoming neurodivergent and psychosocial barriers as well as grief over family members. My husband, brother and father, before passing each suffered from addiction, and severe mental illness. I am a firm believer in person-centered client-first support. I value authenticity, diversity, and non-judgement. I am the evidence that by using mutualism and trauma-informed and recovery-centered care, mental health recovery is possible. It is my privilege to share relevant portions of my lived experience with individuals struggling with identity, re-entry, depression, and other cognitive, brain-based issues. I am pleased to invite you to have a conversation with me. Recovery is possible.
What can members expect to take away from sessions with you?
In our sessions expect our process to be a collaborative, goal-oriented process designed to help you develop resilience, and achieve personal growth. Our interpersonal relationship will grow in a SafeSpace maintained with discretion and culturally responsive care. We will be sharing conversations about hope, wellness and self-advocacy. You are a unique individual with many strengths! You can expect me to meet you where you are, with empathy, and help you discover and develop insight into yourself. We will develop a wellness plan with healthy and effective tools that empower your autonomy and goal completion. Connection is powerful and transformative, therefore, together we will build and/or develop your network of supporters. We will focus on you! So, you can get well, stay well, and live your best life.
Explain to members what areas you feel are your biggest strengths?
I am a reliable, dedicated, compassionate Health & Wellness Peer Supporter. My ability to support peer partners as they explore, create, and meet their mental health and substance use recovery goals is amplified, because their point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integrated into their personalized recovery plan. My ability to be mindful of diverse cultural views allows me to provide an atmosphere of trust and safety. Facilitation of the referral process and linkages to other services related to life’s stressors is a key component to my case management style. I’m solution oriented and determined to do what it takes. My lived experience allows me to share with you my similar journey and to provide you with excellent recovery centered client informed care.
