My name is Micaela. I’m Hispanic and white, and I was born and raised in California. I’m a certified peer support specialist and have a certificate as well for suicide prevention training. I have lived experience with a diagnosis of a panic disorder, PTSD, borderline personality disorder and possible bipolar disorder. Throughout my journey I’ve also struggled with substance use. I’m a year and 2 months into my recovery and sobriety. I’m a good listener and will continue to give a non judgmental safe space for people to talk about what they’re going through.

What can members expect to take away from sessions with you?

I don’t minimize the pain of others and I’m pretty good when it come to understanding what the other person may be going through while remaining calm and professional. My strengths I’d say are that I have good empathy towards others, and since being in recovery I’ve become good when it comes to practicing self love and my coping skills and applying them to situations where I might feel overwhelmed or may feel overstimulated. I also feel like I’d be able to work on coping skills with others and safety planning (if needed).

Explain to members what areas you feel are your biggest strengths?

My biggest strengths: being patience with members, validating members feelings, and being able to connect with a diverse group of people.
