Hello! My name is Mellissa and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have a master's degree from Smith College School for Social work and completed a bachelor's degree in social work at San Francisco State in 2009. I have over 20 years social work experience in substance use treatment, in mental health therapy & pain counseling, working with unhoused adults, in substance use treatment and in a shelter for survivors of human trafficking. I am a California native and have a Christian background. I value non- judgment, authenticity, compassion, and creating a safe space for you to heal. I believe in change. I consider it a privilege to walk alongside people as they take steps towards healing and greater quality of life.

What can members expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, you can expect a warm welcome, and an opportunity to learn about one another. We'll discuss what brings you into therapy, your goals, interests, and begin developing a plan to meet your goals. If it is a psychological evaluation, then we will carefully evaluate your condition and your needs, and I will provide a thorough evaluation that will help you or your provider make decisions for your care plan.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths?

I am proud to receive feedback from former patients that they felt accepted as they are, and they felt a warm connection very quickly. Some say they were surprised how much we laughed in session and expressed appreciation for my sense of humor. I deeply value human connection and see this in itself as a tool for healing.
